The Best Engagement

Photo Locations

in Portugal

One of the most common questions I receive is:

"Where should we do our engagement photos?"

The answer depends on much more than simply finding a beautiful backdrop.

When choosing a location, I always encourage couples to think about how they naturally spend time together. Do you love wandering cities? Spending entire afternoons by the ocean? Exploring somewhere new? Sitting in a wine bar talking for hours?

The most successful engagement sessions are usually the ones that feel like a slightly elevated version of a day you'd genuinely enjoy together.

PLANNING GUIDE

  • Portugal is a fantastic destination for engagement photos year-round. Spring and autumn usually offer the most comfortable temperatures and softer crowds, while summer provides long golden evenings. Winter can also be beautiful, particularly in Lisbon, Cascais and the Algarve, where temperatures remain relatively mild.

  • Sunrise and sunset generally provide the most flattering light for engagement photos. Sunrise offers quieter streets and viewpoints, while sunset creates warm, golden tones and a more relaxed atmosphere. The best option often depends on the location and the season.

  • Most engagement sessions last between an hour up to 3 hours. This gives us enough time to explore multiple spots, create a variety of images and allow you to relax into the experience without feeling rushed.

  • Absolutely. Some of my favorite engagement sessions involve walking through several locations rather than staying in one place.

Some routes might require a car.

  • Portugal is known for its sunshine, but weather can always be unpredictable. If conditions make the session impossible, we'll discuss alternative locations, adjust the timing or reschedule whenever possible.

  • Of course!!
