Hi loves. I’m Nia.
I am so happy you’re here.
Rather than giving you a polished bio, I wanted to share something a little more honest. Think of this as a storybook of your photographer.
This you already know: I am a documentary wedding photographer based in Sintra, just outside Lisbon, travelling often and drawn to weddings wherever they unfold.
What you may not know is that I was born in Portugal but grew up in Angola (I’ve dual citizenship) and learned early what it means to live between countries, cultures and landscapes
At twenty years old, I moved to the United States chasing a path that turned out not to be mine. But I travelled, lived entire versions of myself… and somehow, I have no photographs from that time. So much life, barely any proof. I’ve studied in more than twelve schools (college included) and crossed paths with an absurd number of people throughout my life. Some stayed, some left, some changed me forever. Many of those memories exist only in my mind now, especially from the years before everything was documented and backing up was a thing.
That’s why photography matters so deeply to me.
Not as content, but as memory. As something you can return to when it all fades.
I take photographs because life is worth remembering.

Meet the one who has to deal with me not only getting up at 8:00 am on a Saturday, but also getting at home at 5:00 am on a Sunday: João. every morning, he whips up the most Instagram-worthy cappuccino you've ever seen! Sometimes he even makes me an extra one to go. Despite his mad photography skills that he only uses when we travel or when I need a few behind the scenes photos, he prefers to stay home and rock the Playstation. He is the ultimate IT guy turned coffee wizard turned partner-in-crime. And even if he's not standing beside me with a camera in hand, his unwavering support and love make every day feel like a fairytale. And guess what, in 2024 got engaged!
And in 2025, we got MARRIED!
Meet ISO Bartolomew De la Mancha, the purr-fectly lazy assistant who keeps things running smoothly in the office (which sometimes is my living room)! While he may spend most of his time snoozing in sunbeams or chasing imaginary… somethings, ISO's real talent lies in providing moral support. With his keen eye for napping spots and unparalleled ability to ignore deadlines. So, if you catch a glimpse of a tail photobombing our VideoCall, just know that ISO's lending his unique touch to the magic!
We are loud, emotional, permanently in each other’s business, and run primarily on love and fast talking. I’m the oldest of three sisters, which means I’ve been tired since childhood and somehow responsible for things I did not do.The youngest is my accidental twin, just with a casual twenty-year age gap to keep it weird and existential. We’re messy. We’re dramatic. We share everything and nothing is sacred. But when it matters? We stick like glue. Would I recommend it? Debatable. Would I choose them again and again? Immediately.
This job may look romantic, but behind the scenes it runs on group chats, emergency voice notes, shared safety pins, honest opinions, and someone handing you a coffee before you even realize you’re fading. The vendors I trust don’t just work alongside me: they become my people. The ones who second shoot, fix veils, calm nerves, hype me up, tell me when an idea is bad and celebrate when it’s brilliant. Somewhere between long wedding days and late-night edits, colleagues turn into friends that turn into the support system that makes this whole wild thing possible. Community isn’t a bonus. It’s oxygen.
