There are plenty of places to propose in Sintra. Justin chose a quiet terrace overlooking endless forests and a distant glimpse of the Atlantic. What followed was one of those evenings that felt almost impossibly Portuguese: a surprise proposal, golden light spilling through the village streets, a few photographs outside Palácio Nacional de Sintra and a celebratory toast in a local tasca before the day came to an end.

Alex planned a surprise proposal at Castelo de São Jorge in Lisbon, gathering a few close friends for what seemed like an ordinary sunset visit above the city. A few minutes of strategic separation later, he was down on one knee overlooking Lisbon's rooftops and the Tagus River. After the celebrations, we spent the evening wandering through the castle grounds and photographing their engagement as golden hour slowly turned into blue hour above the city.

This engagement photoshoot at Palácio de Queluz became the perfect excuse to revisit one of my favourite places in Portugal and celebrate a chapter of life that deserves far more attention than it usually gets.

We spent the entire week before this proposal checking the weather forecast like stressed stock market analysts because Lisbon simply would not stop raining. And then somehow, on their day, the skies opened up for us.

The morning started with that annoying “is it going to rain or not?” drizzle situation, but somehow the weather held long enough for Luís to pull off the sweetest surprise proposal for Andreia at Quinta de Santana. And him surprising her with her family waiting nearby to celebrate afterwards might have been one of my favorite reactions ever.
