Engagement sessions are my jam, and here’s why: they’re like the ultimate warm-up before the big show or just a feel good photoshoot to showcase your love for your partner, just because. It’s a way to connect and use this as yet another good excuse for quality time with the love of your life - and you get amazing pictures as extra!
If you’re getting married soon, think of it as a trial run where you can get comfy in front of the camera, figure out your best angles, and vibe with our posing tips. Totally get it – spending 1-2 hours posing for pics might not be everyone’s idea of a good time. It’s cool if you’re feeling a bit awkward at first – that’s totally normal!
But here’s the thing: by the time we wrap up, you’ll be surprised at how natural it all feels. Promise! And hey, who knows, you might even have a blast along the way.
I’m personally stoked about it because it’s not just about taking photos – it’s a chance for us to chill together before the big day, get to know you and your story. Let’s make some memories and have a blast while we’re at it!
Save the DatesAlright, let’s talk save the dates! If your wedding is happening close to home, aim to send those babies out around 3 to 4 months before the big day. But if you’re jetting off to some exotic locale for your nuptials, bump that timeline up to 8 to 10 months beforehand.
Now, if you’re thinking of using your engagement pics for those oh-so-cute save the dates, here’s the scoop: plan your session at least two month sbefore you hit send on those cards. Trust us, you’ll need that time for any unexpected weather curveballs, editing wizardry, and getting those cards designed and printed to perfection. Two months gives you a comfy buffer to make sure everything’s all set and ready to go!

Or maybe you’re leaning towards a cozy rustic vibe for the big day? Cue local parks or fields bursting with blooms for that picture-perfect backdrop, Lisbon has amazing gardens and greenhouses. City vibes? Alfama is the way to go! A more romantic setting? Let’s go to Sintra! There are so many palaces we can shoot at.

So, here’s the lowdown on engagement sessions: they can happen pretty much anytime! No pressure, no rules – it’s all about what works for you!
When it comes to picking the perfect time, it’s all about nailing that vibe you’re after. Whether you’re dreaming of those blooming spring flowers or chasing that golden hour glow, we’re all about making it happen.
Usually, we aim for sessions to run around an hour up to two hours and a half, kicking off at sunrise or roughly two hours before sunset for that dreamy, soft light. Trust me, it’s worth it – no harsh shadows or squinting into the sun!
Oh, and pro tip: timming is key. If we’re shooting in the evening and you roll up fashionably late, we might miss out on that magical light. And mornings? Well, let’s just say the sun gets a bit too bright for our liking as it climbs higher in the sky.
Inclement WeatherWHAT TO DO IF IT RAINS
Here’s the deal: as your session approaches, we’ll touch base to confirm the time, location, and keep an eye on the forecast. We totally get it – no one wants to get all dolled up only to have rain spoil the party! We aim to make the call at least 12 hours in advance if the weather’s looking iffy.
Your comfort and convenience are top priority, so just let us know what works best for you two. Rain or shine, we’ve got your back!

Pets
Fur babies are always welcome to join the fun during your session! But hey, when you’ve got your furry friend in tow, it’s all about picking the right spot – pet-friendly locations are a must!
I plan for your pet to steal the show at the beginning of the session and if you can, ask a friend to come along to keep your pet company and entertained while we get a few photos of just the two of you. If you don’t have anyone to tag along, they will already be tired enough for us to get a few couple-only pics.
Oh, and pro tip: a little pre-session workout and bringing along their favorite toy or treats can keep those tail wags coming! And depending on your pet’s fur type, a quick groom sesh before the shoot can really make them shine.
