WEDDING FILM PHOTOGRAPHY

Why add film photography to your wedding day?

I’m not going to pretend it’s not trendy. Film is having a very deserved moment right now, but if it were only about trend, I wouldn’t care about it the way I do.

There’s something about film that just feels different. I’ve been shooting on a growing collection of 35mm cameras for years and every time I get scans back, it hits in a way digital doesn’t. Film has this quiet nostalgia built into it in a way that’s hard for digital to manufacture.

For the last two years, I’ve offered 35mm film as an add-on to wedding coverage.

What makes film special is the limitation. There aren’t unlimited exposures. That constraint creates honest images. The result feels less like content and more like memory. Less polished performance, more lived-in story.

Film isn’t about being trendy. It’s about adding texture to your day. It’s about preserving not just how everything looked, but the feeling of it.

Film is alive in a way digital isn’t. Every camera, even the same model, has its own quirks and way of seeing the world.

Light, motion, double exposures, tiny chemical surprises can create images you didn’t plan, unexpected and beautiful.

Film isn’t predictable, but its unpredictability is what gives each frame soul, texture and life.
